VJ Tina
Name: Tina Thadani

Age: 22

Star Sign: Sagittarius

Background Check: Before making her way to India, Tina lived in Toronto and New York City and pursued acting, bagging roles in a variety of independent movies.

Being a Channel [V] VJ: Tina tells us, “It was always on my to-do list. I'm an actress back in Canada, but VJing was also something that I always wanted to do. It's been a great experience. My first show was Channel [V]'s Freedom Express and I traveled throughout India, second class, no AC! It was quite an experience! I was so fortunate to do that, because the best way to travel India is local style! So I'm getting to explore my culture and being a VJ is so much fun, you get to interact with people, do adventurous crazy things…it's great.”

You can tell a lot about a girl by the music she listens to. We got Tina to dish on her top 5 albums of all time.

1. PRINCE - PURPLE RAIN
“Before coming to India I had tickets to go to a Prince concert in Madison Square Garden. For some reason we lost them but we were dying to go, so my friend and I went to the show anyway. We worked our magic and got in and ended up in the front row! We were enjoying the concert and then suddenly we see these two big bodyguards coming up to us and I thought we were going to get thrown out but they were like 'Prince wants to see you on stage'! So we got called up to dance with Prince on stage and it was just fabulous. He sang When Doves Cry, Purple Rain, Raspberry Corvette - it was the best!”

2. ALICIA KEYS - THE DIARY OF ALICIA KEYS
“I love Alicia Keys, she is a fabulous singer! The songs on this album are all about love and soul and it is an album that every woman can relate to. It's something that people can go through. She writes and composes her own music which I admire so much and she has such a beautiful voice! Any woman can relate to her songs.”

3. MARIAH CAREY - THE EMANCIPATION OF MIMI
“I have grown up on Mariah's music. Some time ago she had a video set in a school where she was dancing on tables and everything, so one time I remember when I was in the sixth or seventh grade, the teacher went out of the class and we just started singing and dancing to a Mariah song. It was really funny! She's been through a lot and there's so much to her! She's been in the industry for so long and she is still at the top. I think the media has a part to play in her diva-like reputation with their negative comments about her…I think she has every right to act like a diva because she has earned it!”
