Treasures (18 Priceless Gems) -Various Artists It was a tough decision; this was my first choice for the Album of the Month moniker - till I got the album I just reviewed above. If you love the music of the 1960ís and early 70's, then look no further. The imaginatively titled follow up to Universal Musicís Signatures album - this is one of those compilations that is sure to have you going "Oh my God, remember this one" throughout its seventy five minute journey of easy listening chart hits.

A solid collection of 18 tracks, Treasures includes a good share of hits that you probably wonít find anywhere else at the moment. From Louis Armstrong doing What A Wonderful World to a bit of The Platters with Only You - before moving on to a bit of Cat Stevens and Abba - the nice thing is that in picking these songs they paid attention to the songs and not just the titles. Throw in a bit of The Righteous Brothers with the original Unchained Melody and some Kenny Rogers, and you know that this oneís for keeps. Granted, if you have an extensive collection of oldies albums in your music library, then you probably have all of these tracks already. Still instead of putting together a collection like this yourself, you can just pick up this one.

With some many compilations being released every month - most of them (especially the love song collections) seem a bit alike to me. Treasures - 18 Priceless Gems is a refreshing change from those, and itíll introduce the young listener to a huge cross section of tunes from relatively modern day stuff to the music that your parents were brought up on. This oneís well recommended.
